The New Year in London

Each year the team sets quarterly and yearly production goals, and team members can earn a trip bonus if the goals are met. During 2006, the team exceeded their goal and chose to take a team trip to London, England for one week. Five team members and their spouses went on the trip this year.

After a rocky start, including an unexpected overnight stay in Houston, we arrived in London just in time for the city's New Year's celebrations. Everyone had a great week in London, and we were able to see many of the historical sites in the city, such as the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Parliament, and the Tower of London, just to name a few.

We also took flight on the London Eye, which is a huge slow-moving ferris wheel with "pods" that you're able to stand up in during your ride. It is a neat way to see the city. Many of us were also able to travel outside the city to locations such as Canterbury, Warwick, Oxford, Windsor, and even Paris. Seeing the countryside was a unique perspective and very different from the city.

All in all, the week was a wonderful time, and we all felt that we got to see everything we wanted in London. It is a great place to visit, but there is one truth about traveling - it makes you very grateful for the blessings of home. We are glad to live in the United States of America, and we were very excited to return!
